Graduation Information 2014

What process do I need to complete to receive my certificate, diploma or degree? 

Southeast Technical has one graduation ceremony per year. Students who will be graduating Spring Semester, Summer Session or Fall Semester 2014 should complete an Application for Graduation by Friday, March 7, 2014. Applications for Graduation packets are available at the campus Reception Desks.  Online students should contact Holly Daley at the Red Wing Campus hdaley@southeastmn.edu or Julie Haedtke at the Winona Campus jhaedtke@southeastmn.edu. 

When and where are the graduation ceremonies held? 

Red Wing Campus

  • Tuesday, May 13, 2014, 7:00 p.m. 
  • Red Wing High School
    Larry Sonju Gymnasium
    2451 Eagle Ridge Drive
    Red Wing, Minnesota
  • Note:  Students will meet at Red Wing High School, Commons Area at 6:15 p.m.     

Winona Campus

  • Wednesday, May 14, 2014, 7:00 p.m.
  • Winona State University
    Memorial Hall
    Corner of Johnson & King Streets
    Winona, Minnesota  
  • Note:  Students will meet at Winona State University, Memorial Hall – Talbot Gym at 6:15 p.m.     

Attention Red Wing & Winona Campus Nursing Students: All nursing students should report to the gymnasiums (Red Wing High School & WSU Memorial Hall) for group photos by 5:45 p.m. Please be prompt.


Will a professional photographer be at the graduation ceremony?
 

Yes, Lifetouch Photography will be taking professional photos of students during the graduation ceremony.  Information on purchasing photos will be available at cap and gown pick up.  The Lifetouch Photography website can be found at http://events.lifetouch.com/.


How do I find out about local lodging for my guests?
 

Information can be found at the following Area Convention and Visitors Bureaus.

 

In addition to the ceremony, are there events planned for graduates and their families? 

A reception with punch and cookies will be held for graduates, families and friends immediately following the ceremony.
  

Are guest tickets required for the graduation ceremony? 

Tickets are not needed for the ceremony. 

How long does the graduation ceremony last? 

The ceremony runs approximately an hour and a half.  All graduates and guests are expected to remain seated for the entire program. 

How do I get a cap and gown for the ceremony? 

All students from both campuses must wear a black cap and gown to participate in the ceremony.

Red Wing Campus Information                        

  • Cost $25.00
  • If you already have a black cap and gown, you will need to pick up a tassel only.  Cost is $5.00.
  • Scheduled pick up Red Wing Campus:
    Bookstore, Monday, April 28 through Friday, May 9: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  Winona Campus Information  

  • Winona Campus Student Senate will be paying for the cost of the cap, gown and tassel.  If you already have a black cap and gown, you will need to pick up a tassel only. 
  • Scheduled pick up Winona Campus: 
    Student Center:  Bookstore Entrance 
    Wednesday, April 30: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 
    Thursday, May 1: 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
    Friday, May 2: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Graduating with Honors?

Students who participate in the graduation ceremony and who meet the eligibility requirements will receive a gold honor cord which has been purchased by the Student Senate.  Students should stop at the Registrar’s Office after they pick up their cap and gown.

Honor status is given to students graduating from a diploma, AAS or AS program and who have completed a minimum of 25 resident credits including credits from the last term before graduation.  Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 to 3.74 receive Honors designation.  Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 to 4.00 receive High Honors designation.  Final honor status is determined after final grades are received.  Honor status will appear on the student transcript at the time of official graduation.

 Are certificates, diplomas, or degrees presented at the graduation ceremony? 

You will not receive your actual certificate, diploma or degree at the graduation ceremony.  A cover will be given to you to place your document in after you receive it in the mail.  The document will be mailed approximately 10 – 12 weeks after graduation when grades are finalized and the graduation is confirmed from the Registrar’s Office.

What if I need to change my graduation date to a later semester?
