401 - Achievement Award

The College provides an Achievement Award to individual employees or teams of employees in recognition of exemplary work performance. This award complies with the guidelines of the MAPE and MMA Collective Bargaining Contracts and the Commissioner's Plan governing the employment relationships of employees eligible for the plan. All non-temporary and non-emergency employees (exclusive of employees in the Customized Training Representative classification) as noted above are eligible to be nominated for the award.

402 - Administrative Personnel - Hiring

The College President shall select and hire administrators. The recruitment and hiring process will be determined by the President with an obligation to provide a process for equal opportunity of employment for candidates.

403 - Compensatory Bank Liquidation

In accordance with the AFSCME, MAPE, and MMA Collective Bargaining Contracts and the Commissioner’s Plan, the College will liquidate compensatory bank balances annually. Extensions for up to three (3) months may be granted with supervisory approval and used for an identified event/leave.

404 - Consensual Relationships

An employee of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities shall not enter into a consensual relationship with a student or an employee over whom he or she exercises direct or otherwise significant academic, administrative, supervisory, evaluative, counseling, or extracurricular authority or influence. In the event a relationship already exists, the college will reassign evaluative authority as may be possible to avoid violations of this policy. This prohibition does not limit the right of an employee to make a recommendation on personnel matters concerning a family or household member where the right to make recommendations on such personnel matters is explicitly provided for in the applicable collective bargaining agreement or compensation plan.

405 - Representing the College

All faculty and staff are representatives of the College when functioning in their official capacity at any event or occasion sponsored by, or functioning under the auspices of, the College. Persons who are not College employees may also function as its representatives when they have received prior approval from the Director of College Advancement.

406 - Emergency and Weather-Related Leaves and Pay

When the College is closed due to an emergency that threatens the health and safety of individuals, those employees not deemed vital for the safe operation of the College may be excused from duty with full pay. A Campus closure applies to all employees without regard to labor contract. Weather or other emergency essential employees who are not excused from work will be paid at their regular rate of pay.

407 - Worker's Compensation

The College supports the State Department of Employee Relations in its administration of worker's compensation claims and payments in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
