
The College provides an Achievement Award to individual employees or teams of employees in recognition of exemplary work performance. This award complies with the guidelines of the MAPE and MMA Collective Bargaining Contracts and the Commissioner’s Plan governing the employment relationships of employees eligible for the plan. All non-temporary and non-emergency employees (exclusive of employees in the Customized Training Representative classification) as noted above are eligible to be nominated for the award.

The College President shall select and hire administrators. The recruitment and hiring process will be determined by the President with an obligation to provide a process for equal opportunity of employment for candidates.

In accordance with the AFSCME and MAPE Collective Bargaining Contracts and the Commissioner’s Plan, the College will liquidate compensatory bank balances annually. Extensions for up to three (3) months may be granted with supervisory approval and used for an identified event/leave. See the Compensatory Bank Liquidation Procedures for more information.

The College discourages the development of consensual relationships where a “status differential” i.e. faculty/student, supervisor/subordinate, exists.

All faculty and staff are representatives of the College when
functioning in their official capacity at any event or occasion
sponsored by, or functioning under the auspices of, the College.
Persons who are not College employees may also function as its
representatives when they have received prior approval from the
Director of College Advancement.

When the College is closed due to an emergency that threatens the health and safety of individuals, those employees not deemed vital for the safe operation of the College may be excused from duty with full pay. A Campus closure applies to all employees without regard to labor contract. Weather or other emergency essential employees who are not excused from work will be paid at their regular rate of pay.
