Increase or decrease text/font size in your browser

  • Click on the Customize and Control Google Chrome icon (looks like a small wrench).
  • Select Options from the drop-down menu.
  • In the Google Chrome Options window, select the Under the Hood tab.
  • From the Under the Hood tab, click on the Customize Fonts button.
  • In the Fonts and Languages window, click on the Fonts and Encoding tab, and use the sliders to increae or decrease the size of the font style you wish to change.
  • In the Font window, make your font and size preferences.

Zoom in or out of your screen

Note: In most browsers, the keyboard shortcut for zooming in is “Ctrl”+“+”. The shortcut for zooming out is “Ctrl”+“-”. You can reset the screen magnification to 100% by using the keyboard shortcut “Ctrl”+“0”.

  • Click on the Customize and Control Google Chrome icon (looks like a small wrench)
  • Next to the Zoom menu item, click the + or – signs to increase or decrease the magnification of the screen.
  • You can reset the screen to 100% magnification by clicking the + and – buttons back to 100% or by selecting Reset (“Ctrl”+“0”).

Change text and background colors

  • Click on the Customize and Control Google Chrome icon (looks like a small wrench)
  • Select Options from the drop-down menu.
  • In the Options window, select the Personal Stuff tab.
  • Click on the Get Themes link, which will take you to the Chrome Web Store where you will find many free themes. At this point in time, Chrome does not provide a built in way to customize text and background colors.

Access closed captions for YouTube videos

Closed captions provide written words for the vocal dialog in videos. You can turn closed captions on or off in YouTube by clicking the “CC” button, located at the bottom of the video player. Please note that YouTube does not require closed captioning for all videos.
