Increase or decrease text/font size in your browser

  • To temporarily change the text/font size:
    • Click on the View menu.
    • Select Zoom Text Only from the drop-down menu.
    • With this option checked, you can select Zoom In (“Ctrl”+“+”) or Zoom Out (“Ctrl”+“-“) from the View drop-down menu and only the text will be affected.
    • To return to the original text size, click on the View drop-down menu and select Actual Size (“Ctrl”+“0”).
  • To permanently change the text/font size for all webpages you visit:
    • Click on the Edit menu.
    • Select Preferences from the drop-down menu.
    • Click on the Appearances tab, click the Select button next to Standard Font.
    • In the Choose a Font window, you can change the font or font size for all webpages.

Zoom in or out of your screen

  • Click on the View menu.
  • Select Zoom In (“Ctrl”+“+”) or Zoom Out (“Ctrl”+“-“).
  • To return to the original screen magnification, click on the View drop-down menu and select Actual Size (“Ctrl”+“0”).

Change text and background colors

  • To change the text and background color in Safari, you will need to create your own CSS (style sheet). If you are unfamiliar with how to do this, please click here for style sheet directions.
  • After you have created and saved your style sheet, click on the Safari menu and select Preferences.
  • In the Preferences window, select the Advanced tab.
  • From the pull-down menu next to “Style Sheet,” select “Other” and browse for the style sheet you created.

Access closed captions for YouTube videos

Closed captions provide written words for the vocal dialog in videos. You can turn closed captions on or off in YouTube by clicking the “CC” button, located at the bottom of the video player. Please note that YouTube does not require closed captioning for all videos.
