Transfer Policy

Students wishing to transfer credit to Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical must complete a Transfer of Credit Application. The process for transfer of credit cannot begin until the Registrar’s Office receives this form.

Students must also request that an official post-secondary transcript from a regionally accredited college be mailed directly to Southeast Technical from the sending institution. Course syllabi and documentation may also be required for evaluation of all courses for which a student is requesting credit. After all documents have been received and the student has been accepted for admission to a major, the Registrar’s Office will review the transcripts.

Transfer of technical credits will only be granted for courses completed within five years of the request for transfer. There is no transfer time limit for general education or elective courses. Transfer credits being considered must have a grade of “A”, “B”, “C”, “M” (Mastery), “P” (Pass) or “S” Satisfactory, and the coursework completed must match at least 75% of the content goals of the Southeast Technical course syllabus for which the student is seeking transfer credit. Some programs may have different requirements.

Only courses which apply toward graduation requirements will be considered for transfer and will be listed on the student’s transcript. Transfer credits granted shall appear on the transcript and will not be included when calculating the student’s GPA.

Students may appeal any transfer decision by requesting an appeal with the campus transfer specialist. Appeal forms are available in the Registrar’s Office.
