Applebaum Violin Shop
Opening in Violin Shop, Tacoma, Washington
am looking for a full-time employee to do repair and restoration work on
violins, violas, and cellos in a small, well-established shop. Our clientele
ranges from students to professionals. The emphasis is on quality work. I am
willing to consider both new school graduates and people with more experience.
Salary will be appropriate to experience; and medical and dental insurance,
paid vacation, and paid sick days will be provided. The current person in the
job will be leaving to start his own shop after seven years here. The position
will be open in earlly summer.
Tacoma is 40 minutes drive
south of Seattle, on the shore of Puget Sound, and close to two mountain
ranges. There is a lively cultural life here, as well as easy access to the
excitements of Seattle. However, Tacoma is a much more affordable city than
Seattle. Outdoor recreation of all kinds are abundantly available.
Here, we have or take care of the usual range of instruments, everything from
rentals (although that is not the main focus) to old German, French, and Czech
trade instruments, to better new Chinese, to fine American, to fine French
(Gand, Bernardel, Blanchard, Collin-Mezin, Vuillaume, etc.),to good modern
Italians (Antoniazzi, Messori, Mozzani, Fiorini), and the occasional old
Italian. We do a lot of cello work, and always have at least one old cello
under restoration (usually to sell in the 20k-40k range). We have a pretty good
range of bows, too, topping out at Ouchard, Vuillaume, and the like.

The workshop is just me plus one other person, and a part-timer to take care of
the office. In such a small group, everyone has customer contact, and
does a little of everything.
Please send a resume and
cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org,
