The Band and Orchestra Repair Technician position is responsible for repairing and refurbishing multiple types of brasswind or orchestral instruments. This position evaluates damaged merchandise and determines if it is cost effective to fix.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts performance tests on brasswind and orchestral instruments to evaluate their sound quality and to locate defects.
  • Disassemble/reassemble brasswind and orchestral instruments and parts for repair and adjustment.
  • Inspect, repair and adjust returned brasswind and orchestral instruments prior to re-stock.
  • Repair and recondition used and trade-in instruments as required.
  • Grade brasswind and orchestral instruments appropriately for used inventory.
  • Polish brasswind and orchestral instruments, using rags and polishing compounds, buffing wheels, or burnishing tools
  • Clean and/or refurbish mouthpieces on brasswind and orchestral instruments.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Apprenticeship or a diploma from an accredited repair school, required..
  • One (1) year experience working on musical instruments, preferred..
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office is preferred.
