Job Description
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Our String Repair Technicians perform a variety of tasks from day to day including, but not limited to:
a. Maintain used student instrument pool which includes:
i. Restring and set up.
ii. Cleaning of instruments, bows, and cases.
iii. Bridge replacement as needed.
iv. Bow rehair/repair.
v. Limited crack and seam repair, depending upon management approval.
vi. Finger board, saddle, and nut replacement/reshaping.
vii. Fitting of tailpieces/fine tuners as needed.
viii. Peg, end button, end pin reshaping/replacement.
ix. Sound post resetting/replacement.
x. Resetting of separated necks.
b. Walk-in and institutional repair which includes
i. Restring and set ups.
ii. Bridge replacements.
iii. Bow rehair/repair.
iv. Crack and seam repair.
v. Finger board, saddle, and nut replacement/reshaping.
vi. Peg, end button, end pin reshaping/replacement.
vii. Fitting of tailpieces/fine tuners.
viii. Repair of cracked and broken scrolls.

xi. Refinishing skills a plus, but not essential.
2. Our String Repair Technicians will be expected to perform these tasks to the standards and requirements of N-Tune Music and Sound.
3. Our String Repair Technicians will be expected to perform these tasks in a timely manner. Repair Techs must be able to arrive to work on time each morning and will be expected to stay until their shifts end each day.
4. Our String Repair Technicians must have the ability to handle and carry equipment, products, and tools of all sizes and dimensions. Repair Technicians are frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with the hands and arms. Repair Technicians are occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
5. Our String Repair Technicians regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 75 pounds or more.
6. Our Repair Technicians must possess good close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, fine motor skills, and the ability to focus.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Certification from recognized Repair Training School a plus.
3. Experience in field not required, but would help.
4. Must be able to write, speak, and read well in the English language.
5. Must pass State of Texas background check to work in public schools (contests, etc.).
6. Will be subject to drug testing and other background checks.

1. Must have good short and long term memory.
2. Be willing to go the extra mile, spend extra hours, and exhaust yourself to find solutions and satisfy customers.
3. Perform adequately when faced with stress and deadlines
4. Must be able to learn job tasks rapidly and to perform a variety of tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
5. Must be capable of making accurate decisions in a timely manner.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
This position is a full-time position with one day off during the week, except during peak seasons. N-Tune Music and Sound is closed on Sundays. Each position at N-Tune Music and Sound begins with a 90-day probation period, allowing both N-Tune Music and Sound and the employee the time to confirm the working relationship going forward.

Midwest Musical Imports is looking for a full-time double reed repair technician for our growing repair department. Applicants should be experienced in all aspects of woodwind repair, preferably with a focus on oboe and bassoon repairs. We pride ourselves on quality repairs—we are not a production shop. Instruments we repair include: oboes, English horns, bassoons, contrabassoons, clarinets, flutes and saxophones. Our clientele includes beginning players, schools, college professors, and symphonic professionals. Qualified candidates should be a graduate of a band instrument repair course and have a basic knowledge/skill to different types of padding, adhesion, key fitting, dent and tenon work. Preferred skills include body cracks and tenon replacement, but on-site training for these is available. Other necessary skills include: machine tool operations, soldering/brazing, and understanding of levers, spring, hinges and threaded adjustments. Downtown Boston music store has an opening for a full time brasswind repair technician.

Applicants should have successfully completed a trade accepted BIRT program. Mechanical aptitude is preferred over musical ability but brasswind playing experience can be a plus. A positive attitude and strong work ethic are expected. Applicant should be open minded and be able to get along with fellow technicians. Recent grads will be mentored and should provide brass repair instructor contact info to help insure job compatibility.  

The repair shop is spacious, has plenty of natural light and is well equipped. Personal hand tools are not provided. Heavy rental fleet work is balanced with school repairs and professional walk-in business. This is a prime work environment located behind Symphony Hall and within walking distance from Berklee School of Music and New England Conservatory.
