Student Affairs encompasses all functions and services provided by the Student Services, Institutional Research, Enrollment Services, and Learning Resource Center areas. Both campuses have clearly marked, visible, and accessible centers for delivering student services and learning resource center services in supporting many facets of student life. Current and potential students ask questions, clarify procedures, receive information, access services of many types, and register concerns in a confidential setting. Competent, experienced staff are available for student, staff, business and industry, and community needs. Staff include licensed counselors, student services specialists, marketing director and staff, career specialists, outreach grant director, recruiters, librarian, receptionists, student services secretaries, administrative assistant, special needs support staff, and learning resource center support staff. Student affairs services are essential in integrating the student’s academic life at the college and the total experiences of the student.
The student affairs departments at both campuses are continually working towards and continually improving a single-unit concept. There are consistent services, forms, procedures, policies, and staffing creating a unified vision for student affairs to the college, the students, the staff, and community stakeholders.
Although most of the students, staff, business and industry, and community members access student affairs staff and services during the daytime hours, the number of evening students and program offerings continue to grow generating requests for more accessibility to staff and services. Evening support staff are available to staff student services offices until 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday during the academic year to provide visibility, communication, information, and referral services. Evening hours are in effect in the learning resource centers providing tutoring and media access with plans to increase those services.
