Kerri Schmidt Receives MAFAA New Professional Award

Kerri SKerri Schmidt, a Financial Aid Assistant for Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical, was recognized May 6, at the Minnesota Association of Financial Aid Administrators (MAFAA) Conference,  held in Brainerd, Minnesota, where she received the Minnesota Outstanding New Professional Award during Thursday night’s banquet.  This award is presented to a new professional who has made significant contributions to their institution, the financial aid profession, and MAFAA. Kerri also received the MAFAA Executive Council Award for her work on the Leadership Committee this past year.  The Minnesota Association of Financial Aid Administrators (MAFAA) is an association of professionals committed to the principle that no one should be denied access to higher education for financial reasons.

 

 

Mohamed Elhindi Receives Doctorate

MElhindiMohamed Elhindi, has been awarded a Doctorate in Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University.  Elhindi currently serves as the Chief Information Officer at Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical with college-wide responsibilities in Red Wing and Winona.  He has been with Southeast Technical overseeing the Information Systems office since 1999.  Prior employment experience includes positions held in the Information Technology field with Winona State University, Medtronic and Mayo Health Systems.

                Elhindi’s Doctoral dissertation focused on Design and Implementation of Identity Management Systems. His final presentation was held at Nova Southeastern University Fort Lauderdale-Davie FL, before the faculty of Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences  in April 2010.  

Elhindi moved to the United States from Khartoum, Sudan in 1989. He holds a bachelor of science in Management of Information Systems from Winona State University and a master of science in Telecommunications from St. Mary’s University of MN.

He is actively involved with  Project Fine, United Way,  IEEE Communications Society , Association for Computing Machinery, International Association for Computer Information “I am grateful for the support I received from my family and friends and for the guidance and leadership I received from my employer, Southeast Technical, over the course of this journey, without their faith in my commitment, this would not have been possible,” he said.  Elhindi, his wife Carol and three children live in Winona.
