Mike HaneyMr. Michael C. Haney, Job Service Regional Manager-Southeast Minnesota, Minnesota WorkForce Center, received the Presidential Citation award from Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical President Jim Johnson, at commencement ceremonies held Thursday, May 13. The Citation Award, not given annually, is a discretionary honor bestowed by the President of the college acknowledging a group or individual who has offered significant support to the college through their connections and efforts within the community. Recipients of the award are deemed a “friend of the college for life” and  are valued for their continued efforts to build and sustain relationships on behalf of the college.

President Jim Johnson says “Mike has been a valued partner in Southeast Technical’s fulfillment of our mission of “workforce education” and the Winona Workforce Center under his leadership has been one of the critical pieces in our ability to fulfill that mission. He and his staff have become a valued partner in this college’s growth over the last 10 years, enabling us to double in size and supply this region with an educated and productive workforce.” Haney says “I am proud to accept the honor on behalf of the partnership, it is an example of the relationship we have between the WorkForce Center staff and faculty and staff at Southeast Technical. It is exactly what we need to rebuild the economy in Minnesota.”

The WorkForce Center and Technical College dynamic has received attention throughout the region and even nationally, as a model and example of workforce/education partnerships.
