Red Wing, Minn – Minnesota State College -Southeast Technical Violin Repair instructor Lisbeth Nelson Butler was elected to the Violin Society of America’s (VSA) Board of Directors where she will serve a four year term. The organization is led by eighteen directors. The VSA’s largest event is a biennial world-wide competition for new violins and bows, drawing entries from all over the world and is one of the most prestigious competitions in the world.
Butler was also voted into the American Federation of Violin and Bow Makers this past year in Seattle. In preparation to receive this esteemed honor, Ms. Butler was required to submit an instrument she made, demonstrate her knowledge of the correct education and experience and be recommended by other members. There are about 150 members in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
