
Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical offers full-time counseling services to assist you with any academic issues or concerns. One of the purposes of counseling services is to help you adapt to your new environment at college. Long-term personal counseling is referred to outside cooperating agencies. You are encouraged to seek counseling at any time that you feel it is necessary.
Students who are undecided about their major or are thinking of changing their major, may wish to talk to an academic advisor or college counselor. Career assessment and information is also available. Counselors are available to assist new and current students make the transition from home to college life. In addition, they work with students needing assistance with success in their major. The counselors help identify, refer and facilitate utilization of student support services for students with barriers to learning.
Personal anxieties and problems can stand in the way of successful completion of a program major. You may find it helpful to speak with a counselor about personal concerns. Referrals can also be made to counseling services within the community.
You will have the opportunity to discuss topics and issues that concern you in a group setting. Support groups are available on campus and in the community to serve a variety of your needs.
If personal problems are causing unsatisfactory college performance, you can receive help resolving such problems. You are encouraged to discuss any problems with your instructor or campus counselor.
Southeast Technical recognizes that personal problems can be a reason for a student's lack of success. Primary responsibility for dealing with personal problems lies with the student, but the college has a legitimate concern when student performance is affected.
The Regional Career Center is located on the Winona campus of Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical. It is a free service designed to help you explore career options and design your own career plan.
