The theme of Camp Trade & Technology this year is We Share Solar. As students build solar suitcases, they will learn about the impact of global energy poverty and gain skills in working with direct current (DC electricity), solar power, electrical schematics and symbols, circuits, and meter use.
The We Share Solar suitcase trainer is the same as one that Minnesota State College Southeast recently built and sent to one of the largest refugee camps in the world, Bidi Bide in Uganda, where it provides light for an entire school. The Camp T&T We Share Solar suitcases will be used for ongoing education opportunities across Southern Minnesota.
Camp T&T will be led by Minnesota State College Southeast Mechatronics instructor Chris Schwertel and Automotive Technology Instructor Amanda Evenson.
