Booting Technician

Position Summary:

Perform a variety of duties to build, spray & inspect levels of appropriate material on accordion sleeves, glove ports & other items within the booting department. This position reports to the Plant Manager.


Key Job Responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Review work orders for number, type of boots and dates needed.
  • Place mandrel on machine and clean as necessary and apply release agent.
  • In accordance with formulas, measure and mix required polyurethane and hardener materials.  Apply mist coat to ensure mold release integrity.
  • Use hand held or automatic spray guns to apply polyurethane to achieve desired thickness. Maintain visual watch over operations and adjust spraying as required to compensate for heat and humidity.
  • Use dial indicator to measure thickness.
  • Set up automatic sprayer to include setting stops.
  • May hand spray polyurethane coating to add additional materials in selected portions of work on automatic sprayer as specified in work orders?
  • Apply lotion and strip completed products off of mandrel and cut to length as specified.
  • Clean and maintain spray guns.
  • Replace parts as needed.
  • Clean all glass beakers.
  • Clean and maintain spray booths to include cleaning blower fans and replacing air filters.
  • Review inventory of materials weekly and turn in bag tickets to reorder materials.
  • Air test boot extensions and gauntlets.
  • Connect air tight plates to ends, inflate and immerse in water trough to check for leaks.
  • Dry boots and gauntlets with cloths and add anti-stick powder.
  • Notify inspection of completed products.

  • Requires ability to read, write and interpret prints to complete assemblies.
  • Must be able to mentally track several jobs simultaneously and actively stay productive at all times.

Thank you all for your partnership with our Minnesota AmeriCorps Emergency Response Initiative this summer! Emergency Response Initiative and Reading & Math, Inc. staff are excited about the level of enthusiasm and engagement of our site partners for this summer 2021 program. 


As we head into the next month of recruitment for these Emergency Response positions, we wanted to send you a few quick updates and clarifications:

1.    Our Emergency Response AmeriCorps member application (application link) is open until May 19th at 5PM CST. All AmeriCorps members will be hired by Friday, May 21st at 3PM CST

2.    Due to the expedited recruitment timeline, we unfortunately do not have the ability to include sites in the interview process. Rest assured, the applicants we’ve processed so far have brought a lot of knowledge and diverse skill sets to the table and have shown a great enthusiasm for service and giving back to their communities.

·            Assist with electrical component prototyping including PCB board design, wiring harness development, and system testing / troubleshooting.

·            Ability to understand electronic design controls and or familiarity in design verification and compliance testing, including IPC, J-STDs, and IEC, standards.

·            Conduct circuit failure analysis, including destructive methods and part swapping

·            Work with vendors to outsource non-destructive test methods including X-ray/CT-scan, cleanliness (IC/Zestron). 

·            As needed, take on a technical leadership role including test protocol development, creation of engineering change orders (ECO’s) and leading continuous improvement projects surrounding fireplace control systems.

·            Use problem solving tools and basic statistical analysis to implement improvements during testing and development.

·            Develop and train other members on test protocols and data sheets.

·            Research technologies and write test reports that summarize results.

·            Must follow all safety rules and regulations.

·            Must follow all quality standards.

Experienced Bow Technician - Compensation: Based on experience and education

  • Must have two years of bow restoration/repair or rehair experience or completion of recognized bow rehair/repair school.
