We are seeking a Band Instrument Repair Technician to work part or full-time in our new Farmington, Minnesota, store, which will open the fall of 2026. Training may start prior to this time in our other store locations of Mankato, Rochester and Winona. The technician will focus on the repair and maintenance of band instruments for our lease and store inventory, along with customer and school repairs. In addition, the position will provide limited customer service either in person, via phone, email, or text, for repair estimates and updates, assist with the processing of payments, other customer inquiries, etc.

Established in 1970, The Music Mart, Inc. has hired multiple Minnesota State College Southeast students/graduates, and currently have three (3) alumni on our team. We have a strong and loyal customer base of elementary, secondary and post-secondary school band, orchestra and choir directors, along with many other music teachers across southern Minnesota and the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Position Overview

The Onsite Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and executing all aspects of facility upkeep, repair, and improvement for Willet Stained Glass Studios’ Winona studio operations, as well as associated commercial and residential properties. This role combines hands-on maintenance work with project coordination, preventative maintenance scheduling, and vendor management. The position ensures that all facilities remain safe, efficient, and operational in support of the business needs.

Duties & Responsibilities
Facility & Equipment Maintenance
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair facility infrastructure, including plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, lighting, flooring, and structural components.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and repair tools, machinery, and equipment used by the maintenance department to ensure safety and optimal performance.
  • Build custom shop furniture, shelving, storage units, and shipping crates to support production, shipping, and operational needs.
Property Management
  • Perform and coordinate maintenance and repairs for two commercial and two residential properties, ensuring compliance with building codes, safety standards, and company quality expectations.
  • Schedule and perform seasonal upkeep tasks such as snow removal, lawn care, gutter cleaning, painting, and weatherproofing.
  • Conduct regular inspections of all properties to identify and address potential maintenance issues before they escalate.
Preventative Maintenance & Scheduling
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive digital schedule of preventative maintenance for all buildings, equipment, and systems.
  • Track and document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections for compliance and recordkeeping purposes.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and facility enhancements.
Vendor & Contractor Coordination
  • Source, vet, and schedule qualified vendors or contractors for specialized repair, installation, or renovation work.
  • Oversee contractor activities onsite to ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and to required specifications.
  • Coordinate delivery and installation of materials, supplies, and equipment related to maintenance projects.
Inventory & Supply Management
  • Maintain accurate inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and replacement parts.
  • Order and restock materials in a timely manner to avoid work delays.
  • Evaluate supply usage to optimize purchasing efficiency and reduce waste.
Special Projects & Emergency Response
  • Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests and emergencies, including after-hours calls.
  • Lead special facility-related projects assigned by management, such as renovations, relocations, or workspace reconfigurations.
  • Ensure all work areas remain safe, clean, and organized during and after project completion.
Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, etc.) for scheduling, reporting, and tracking maintenance activities.
  • Availability for on-call maintenance emergencies as needed.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in construction, facility maintenance, or a related trade.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Physically able to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work in confined or awkward spaces.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
  • Trade skills in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC repair.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Clear communication skills for working with staff, vendors, and contractors.

Position Details: 

 
  • Core hours
    • Monday through Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm
    • OR Monday through Thursday 6:00am – 4:30pm
    • Pay Range: $22.00 to $28.50 per hour

What You’ll Do: 

 
  • Program and maintain CNC turret punch presses and laser machines
  • Use CAD and CAM software to prepare production-ready programs for flat lasers, tube lasers, and turret punch machines
  • Apply critical thinking to enhance safety, boost product quality, and lower production costs
  • Demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills within the team and across departments

What We’re Looking For:

Required 

 
  • High school graduate or GED
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and productive with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational skills, especially with managing files

Preferred 

 
  • Experience with CAM and CAD software or willing to learn
  • Previous experience in similar manufacturing industry and/or vocational training/certificate
  • Experience operating CNC equipment, laser cutting systems, turret punch presses, CAD software, CAM software, drafting systems, or other manufacturing technology.  Candidates with related manufacturing or technical experience and a desire to learn CNC programming are encouraged to apply.
