Homeownership Program Advisor / Emerging Markets Officer – Faribault

Position is based in Faribault with frequent travel throughout Southeastern Minnesota

Position Summary:

Emerging Markets Officers are responsible for homebuyer education and counseling, community outreach, marketing, event coordination, public speaking, facilitation, direct assistance to diverse households, and data tracking. Emerging Markets Officers report to the Community Development Director. ·         Bachelor’s degree

·         Two years’ experience in lending, real estate, business, social work, sociology or related field

·         Knowledge of lending, real estate, community development, housing or related field

·         Fluency in Spanish and/or an East African language strongly preferred

·         Demonstrated experience making a difference in the community through community organizing, community service, outreach or other local involvement

·         Ability to work with the public, articulate ideas and work with diverse cultural and economic backgrounds

·         Experience providing direct services to individuals or families one-to-one or in a group setting, with an emphasis on problem solving and empowerment

·         Extensive organizational skills and an ability to handle multiple tasks

·         Self-motivated, confident individual with ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills

·         Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point

·         Ability to be certified as a Pre-purchase Homeownership Counselor and Homebuyer Educator through Neighborworks or Minnesota Homeownership Center within one year of hire

·         Ability to obtain the professional certifications required to provide financial literacy, financial counseling, pre-purchase counseling, homebuyer education and post-purchase programming within one year of hire (and maintain through continuing education)   

·         Experience in CounselorMax software preferred

·         Willingness to work flexible schedules outside of traditional business hours

·         Ability and willingness to travel within the region
