General Construction and Roofing Carpenter
Job Summary
The General Construction and Roofing Carpenter supports construction crews by performing a wide range of physical tasks on residential and commercial job sites. This role involves assisting skilled tradespeople, handling materials, maintaining a safe and organized worksite, and completing general labor duties as directed by supervisors.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform carpentry and roofing tasks including framing, window and door installation, and general carpentry
- Assist with residential and commercial roof repairs/replacements.
- Prepare and clean job sites, including removing debris and hazardous materials
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Follow all safety procedures, site rules, and company policies
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in good condition
- Perform basic measurements (carpentry and construction math) and material handling
- Assist with blueprint reading, estimating, and planning jobs
- Complete tasks efficiently while meeting project schedules and deadlines
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or foremen
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred (not always required)
- Valid Driver’s License
- Prior construction or labor experience preferred but not required
- Ability to lift up to 50–75 pounds regularly
- Basic understanding of construction safety practices
- Dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions
Skills and Abilities

- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
- Good communication skills
- Attention to detail and safety awareness
- Ability to take direction and adapt to changing tasks
Work Environment
- Outdoor and indoor construction sites
- Exposure to noise, dust, heavy machinery, and varying temperatures
- Physical activities including standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting
Schedule
- Full-time
- May include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime depending on project needs
