This position starts at $23.07/hour (DOQ) with advancement up to $33.18/hour.

Characteristics of Class:
Persons within this classification perform paraprofessional duties under the general supervision of the Assistant Engineer. Persons in this classification perform basic duties in topographical and construction surveying; record keeping and reporting; quality and quantity measurements and testing of materials; basic map and plan preparation. Work is performed in both field and office settings.

Examples of Duties:
Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples, listed in their relative order of importance, include all the duties that may be found in positions in this class.
* Assists Senior Technicians in performing surveys. Assistance is rendered by setting up and occasionally operating GPS apparatus, total station, data collectors, level, level rods, prisms, calculators, computers and tape measures. Sets and marks, laths, hubs, stakes, and ties.
* Performs material testing and measurement in the field, in laboratories and at material production plants. Operates, samples, and performs gradation analysis, specific gravities, tensile strength ratios, moisture, density, air and slump testing, casting cylinders and beams, recording temperatures and weights, calibrating testing and measurement equipment. Records and reports testing results to Senior Technicians, material production plant personnel and State material laboratory testing services.
* Assists in the preparation of maps and plans. Collects, reports, and maintains data and documentation records and files. Performs mathematical calculations. Operates computer software having moderate levels of difficulty. Assists in bridge safety inspections. Maintains assigned equipment, workstation, and performs other duties as assigned to meet the requirements and needs of the department, the County, and the public.
* Assists in construction inspection. Read and comprehend construction plans and specifications. Ensure construction projects comply with contract requirements. Communicate with contractor personnel any plan deviations. Construction administration including compliance documentation and generating change orders.
* Any other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Any combination of training and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities, listed in their relative order of importance.

For Pre Employment:
Minimal Level
* High School diploma or equivalent GED plus not less than two years of post-secondary education. Two years of responsible, relevant work experience may be substituted for the two years of post-secondary education. 
* Above average skills in mathematics including algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
* Basic computer skills.
* Some training or work experience in survey methods and equipment, related material testing, map and plan preparation, and construction inspection.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with no serious or repetitive moving violations within the previous five years.

Desirable Level (Minimal level plus)
* Associates degree in Civil Engineering or Land Survey technology or a closely related field.
* Four years of responsible work experience at the engineering aid level, may be substituted for the associates degree subject to review and approval by the department head of the actual duties and responsibilities performed during this period.
* State certified in one or more fields of construction inspection and material testing.

Intermediate Level Performance (Minimal level, desirable level, plus)
* Certification of not less than two of the following fields within the first year of employment and not less than four fields within the second year of employment and not less than six within the third year of employment:

The Team:
This role is a part of the production assembly team. The team works with the scheduling, materials, and operations teams to accomplish work and provides necessary components to further processing.

The Role: 
This position brazes and bonds together components to assemble metal parts as specified by layout, work order, or blueprints, using hand torch.

You will spend your time:

·         Aligning and clamping work pieces together, using rule, square, or template or sets up placing them in fixtures, jigs, or vise

·         Cleaning joints of work pieces, using wire brush or by dipping them into cleaning solution

·         Selecting torch tip, flux, and brazing alloy from data charts or work order

·         Connecting hoses from torch to regulator valves and cylinders of oxygen specified fuel gas, acetylene or natural

·         Turning valves to start flow of gases, lights flame, and adjusts pressure and mixture of gases to obtain desired color size of flame

·         Brushing flux onto joint of work piece or dips braze rod into flux to prevent oxidation of metal

·         Guiding torch and rod along joint or seam of work piece to heat to brazing temperature melt braze alloy to bond work pieces together

·         Examining seam re-brazes defective joints

·         May braze together broken parts cover holes to repair leaks

·         May melt and separate brazed joints, using hand torch or furnace, remove and straighten components, and rebraze joints to repair misaligned or damaged assemblies be designated Brazer, Repair And Salvage

·         Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly

·         Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating work pieces

·         Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems

·         Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects

·         Performing other duties assigned as needed

Position Overview (Major Functions and Non-Essential Functions):
 
 The Biomedical Electronics Technician (BMET) is responsible to provide a safe environment for all health team members, all visitors, and patients by maintaining, repairing and inspecting patient care equipment. He/she is responsible and held accountable to document and record equipment service histories and significant events.
 Certified BMET’s are expected to adhere to ICC standards and practices.
 Will be required to work in a functioning health care setting.
 Will work on shared service duties at multiple locations as assigned.
 Works in a variety of settings under various conditions.
 Complies with departmental policies and procedures, including general and radiation safety, and infection control and prevention.
 
Qualifications:
 
 Certified Biomedical Electronics Technician (BMET)
