Additional types of grades
Incomplete
Incomplete grades must be made up after the end of the term under the following guidelines, which include weekends and holidays:
- Fall Term: Five weeks.
- Spring Term: Three weeks
- Summer Term: Two weeks
Work not completed within the time permitted will result in a grade of F. Incompletes may be given ONLY at the instructor's discretion when the instructor determines that extenuating circumstances exist.
Repeated Course
Students may repeat any course in an effort to improve grades. All repeated courses will appear on the student's academic transcript and will count as attempted credits in calculations of credit completion rate and total credits attempted. When a student repeats a course, the highest grade earned will be the only grade included in GPA calculations. When a student withdraws from a repeated course and receives a grade of W, the last letter grade will be used in GPA calculations.
Students who wish to repeat a course a third time, must obtain permission from the Academic Support Center Coordinator by filling out the request for Permission for Third Attempt of a Course form. Students may not attempt to repeat a course more than two times without meeting with a member of the Academic Support Center. Also, an academic action plan joint educational plan between the student and Student Success will be developed prior to the third attempt. The maximum attempt for a college course for credit is three times. A more restricted repeated course policy is currently in effect in the Nursing & Allied Health Careers.
Pass/No-Credit
Courses completed under the Pass/No Credit guideline do grant credit toward graduation but are not calculated into a student's cumulative grade point average. Completion of such a course with the equivalent of "C" or better is entered as a P (Pass).
Completion with the equivalent of "D" or below is entered as NC (No Credit) on a student's permanent record.
Auditing a Course
Auditing a course permits a student to attend classes without fulfilling course requirements, such as assignments, quizzes, homework, or other course work. An audited course will not satisfy graduation requirements as the student will not be evaluated for the work completed, will not receive a letter grade, or receive course credit.
A student who audits a course must pay tuition, fees, and book costs and must request within the first five (5) days of a term which courses will be taken on an audit basis. A student may change from auditing a course to taking it for credit ONLY within the first five (5) days of a term. This policy may differ for courses of less than full-term duration.
